Programa trinacional

¿What is the Trinational Program?

The Tri-National Program is an initiative to integrate the management of the Amazon border region in the Putumayo River Basin among the protected areas of Colombia, Ecuador and Peru:  La Paya National Natural Park (Colombia), Cuyabeno Wildlife Protection Reserve (Ecuador), and the Gueppi Protected Area (Peru).  A series of social, cultural and Environmental dynamics in these areas underscores the importance of having a vision for conservation that goes beyond national borders.

The Program is focused on influencing environmental policies at the local, regional, national and international levels through the development of operational, technical and financial tools that can be replicated in similar initiatives. The governments of the three countries affirmed their commitment to the program by signing a Memorandum of Understanding that articulates their goodwill and creates a framework for the various initiatives that are carried out in the course of the Program.
